New de-alcoholization method by ALTR that removes ethanol with an interesting new membrane technology
Some interesting new tech for removing ethanol/OH from a drink & in this case, start up ALTR, is focusing on the wine sector. I'm aware of a few other similar membrane tech companies using a similar approach with nano-membrane technology where they are trying to make these very selective for just the OH molecule. I personally can see this working getting a 13-15% ABV wine down to 7-9%, with good results on aroma, mouthfeel etc.., but getting it down <0.5%ABV I think will be tough without some other solvent for the phenols etc.., to attach to so would IMO need a combination of techniques to bring a wine down to <0.5%ABV.
